Poetic Justice?

While attacks on the media seem to grow every day, I’m concerned about the impact on the sustainability of our free press. I’d like to believe that most people see the attacks on the media by Trump for what they are political grandstanding.

For the past week or so, Missouri Governor Parsons has not allowed reporters to attend his briefings on the pandemic. His staff selects questions submitted before the presentation. This type of control is not supportive of a free press and could be a violation of the First Amendment.

Meanwhile, media outlets are furloughing staff reducing coverage and, in some cases ceasing to operate.

These concerns have caused me to use a part of my recently received Stimulus check to subscribe and or donate to struggling local media operations. Poetic Justice? Perhaps but it makes good sense to me.
